Meet Attorney Cole

My Story

Ms. Cole has over 15 years of legal experience in a wide range of practice areas.  She began her legal career in private practice in 2007 and joined the Harris County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney in 2008. During her years as an Assistant District Attorney, she brought justice to the people of Harris County, earning a reputation as a fair, ethical, and dedicated public servant.  Ms. Cole rose through the ranks from a misdemeanor prosecutor to a senior felony prosecutor handling Aggravated Robberies, Sexual Assaults, and Murders. Ms. Cole worked in the Trial Bureau, Family Criminal Law Division as well as the Juvenile Division during her tenure, gaining experience in every aspect of criminal litigation. She also served as a County Court Chief supervising junior attorneys, paralegals and interns, while managing a court docket of approximately 800 cases. As a Felony Prosecutor, she was responsible for filing cases, presenting to the Grand Jury, pre-trial hearings, and trials. In addition, she was selected to serve as a member of the attorney hiring subcommittee.

Ms. Cole decided to expand her legal expertise and transition to alliantgroup, L.P. in 2014. There she represented small to mid-sized businesses during complex audits with the Internal Revenue Service and state taxing authorities. She obtained over $18 million in tax credits and deductions for companies to reinvest through technological advancements and increased staffing. Ms. Cole also represented companies in a diverse range of industries across the country including, but not limited to, Manufacturing, Architecture and Engineering, Food Products, Construction, and Systems Integration. She consulted with clients on ways to improve contractual agreements and make process improvements to prepare for potential future audits. As a Senior Associate Attorney, Ms. Cole trained new employees across the company and also mentored new attorneys, paralegals and project associates within the Tax Controversy Services department.

Ms. Cole graduated Cum Laude from Spelman College with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. She received her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University of New Orleans College of Law with an International Law Certificate.

Ms. Cole is a proud member of the Houston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  She is also a member of The Mademoiselle Service and Social Club and The Junior League of Houston and previously served on the Board of Directors for both organizations.  Ms. Cole utilizes her prior non-profit Board experience and career experience to advise newly formed non-profits on organizational structure and processes. She also is dedicated to helping the next generation achieve their goals and has done so by mentoring local high school students through The Delta Gems youth program, The Mademoiselle Service and Social Club annual leadership conference, and the National Black MBA Association’s Leaders of Tomorrow Program.   Similarly, Ms. Cole volunteered for several years as a judge for mock trial competitions at Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
